While the rest of the Longhorn football entourage makes the trip to Atlanta for the SEC championship game, Bevo will stay home in Texas. Why? The SEC said the sidelines didn’t have room for Bevo XV’s 1,700 pounds and 58-inch horn span.

“With the narrow sidelines, location of multiple sets for television and camera carts, there is not enough space. While we want to honor tradition across the conference, the space limitation is a reality,” SEC officials told ESPN

With so much activity on the sidelines, it will be interesting to see where they’re going to fit Uga XI (Georgia’s bulldog mascot) who will be allowed at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. If you ask us, we’re sick of this pro-Georgia bias.

Fans have been waiting for a rematch between Bevo and Uga after the 2019 incident at the Sugar Bowl where Bevo charged the dog. (Texas won that game, by the way.)

The good news is, if you’re superstitious, Bevo was in attendance for this season’s Georgia win over the Longhorns and Uga sat that game out back in Georgia. So if the team without the mascot wins, it may be a good sign for the Horns.

The 2024 SEC Championship Game kicks off at 3 p.m. Central Saturday on ABC.
